Educational base

The starting point for any aspiring member is his or her degree or other educational achievement. The educational base benchmark for each Membership grade is different and usually linked to a formal qualification, although the standard can be satisfied by a number of alternative routes.

The educational base required depends on which grade of membership you are seeking:

Membership Grades without Registration with EC(UK) Educational Base
AMICE* UK Bachelors degree or equivalent 
in any subject
MICE UK Bachelors degree or equivalent 
in any subject

*An Associate Member (AMICE), will be required to demonstrate an understanding of technical or scientific rather than engineering principles, but will still be required to demonstrate all the other attributes of a Member (MICE). Membership Grades with  Registration with EC(UK) Educational Base
Part 1 Part 2
MICE CEng Accredited BEng (Hons) Further learning
Accredited MEng - automatically satisfies both parts
MICE IEng Accredited HNC/HND Further learning
Accredited BSc or BEng (Hons) - automatically satisfies both parts
TMICE EngTech Accredited NC/ND or NVQ/SVQ - automatically satisfies both parts
