Fellow is the highest and most senior grade of membership of the Institution and is conferred on engineers of proven ability who have been engaged in a position of responsibility in the promotion, planning, design, construction, maintenance or management of important engineering work.
Fellows are likely to have around 15 years' experience, 5 of which are at a senior level of responsibility related to civil engineering. Read about our current Fellows and what they think about receiving the highest accolade the Institution can award.
There are two main routes to Fellowship:
The benefits you gain from becoming a Fellow remain the same as for Members but as a Fellow you are distinguished by the entitlement to use the letters FICE after your name.
Further benefits include:
- Peer recognition of having reached the highest level attainable in your chosen profession
- Eligibility to sit on the Fellowship Panel and be nominated for ICE Presidency
- More opportunities for networking through schemes such as the regional Fellows Forum
If you are uncertain of your eligibility to apply for Fellow membership, you are welcome to submit a comprehensive CV and a copy of your company organisational chart showing your position (if appropriate) as confirmation of your eligibility. Your CV should demonstrate in some detail a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through training, changing experiences and increasing responsibility, in some detail over the past five years.
Please consult the document Fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers for more detailed information. |
