Student |
Engaged on civil engineering (or similar) undergraduate courses, that could lead to future membership as a Technician Member, Associate Member or Member |

Graduate |
Have completed such a course of study and are working towards professionally qualified membership. |

Professionally Qualified Members |
|
Technician Member |
Involved in applying proven techniques to solve practical engineering problems. They `carry supervisory or technical responsibility, and can exercise creative aptitudes and skills within defined fields of technology´. |
|
Associate Member |
Work in professions that are closely allied with the work of civil engineers in the built environment. They are entitled to add the letters AMICE to their name. |
|
Member |
Have achieved the required educational base and subsequent development to enable them to act as exponents of today´s technology, and both apply and manage its application within the broad field of civil engineering. |
|
Holders of any of the above professionally qualified membership grades can also apply for Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status with the Society for the Environment (SocEnv). |
Qualification involves satisfying an independent Chartered Environmentalist Professional Review. |

Fellow |
Attain the highest class of membership by making `a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or advancing the practice of engineering´. They are entitled to add the letters FICE to their name. |
|
Membership Grades for Other Professionals Connected with the Built and Natural Environment |
|
Affiliate |
Works in a field associated to civil engineering, such as law and geology, or is a civil engineer that is not pursuing a professional qualification with the ICE. |

Companion |
Working at the same senior level as Fellows, supporting the advancement of engineering knowledge. |
|
Affiliates and Companions find membership invaluable for the access it provides to ICE´s library and other services. |
