Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Register

The construction institutions are seeking to raise the standard of Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) risk management across the industry. As part of this process a Register, overseen by the Institution of Civil Engineers´(ICE´s) Health and Safety Board, but open to members of other associated institutions, has been established for those who wish to demonstrate a defined level of competency in the application of HSW risk management within the construction process.

The Register is intended for those individuals who wish to demonstrate that they have built on the level of HSW competence demanded by their professional membership requirements.

A full list of those included on the register and associated employee organisation is held by ICE.

If you wish to make an application you will need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of scientific/engineering/technical principles plus experience of construction processes, particularly relating to HSW. You will also need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of processes that are likely to be required in future use, maintenance, refurbishment or demolition of a project.

To be accepted on the Register you must:

1. Be professionally qualified with:

• Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) 
  
  or
  
  
• an associated Institution (list of other Institutions soon to be available - please check regularly as this list will continually grow)

2. Be successful at the Health, Safety and Welfare Review (HSWR)

3. Follow the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge, skills and competence known as Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
