Technical Report Route

The Technical Report Route (TRR) is open to those who wish to become Members of the ICE, but do not possess the formal academic qualifications. The route creates an opportunity for you to satisfy the educational base through your work experience.

The TRR is designed to incorporate an Academic Review with the Professional Review in a one day session to fulfil both stages.

The following are the key requirements when determining eligibility for the TRR. Eligibility is based on a combination of academic base and experience – the higher the academic base, the fewer additional years' experience is needed.

Aim
Current Academic Qualifications
Indicative Experience

Please note:
If academic qualifications fully meet the educational benchmark for registration for your required aim i.e. CEng, IEng, then you must apply via the standard route.

The appropriate membership grade (MICE IEng, MICE CEng) will depend on experience and competence. Full details of the attributes for each grade can be found in Appendix A of Routes to Membership

If you are uncertain that this is the right route for you, please consult our route selector to determine your best route.
