International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research

The International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR), founded in 1935, is a world wide independent organisation of engineers and scientists interested or working in fields related to hydraulics and its practical application in all relevant fields, including industrial and environmental aspects. IAHR stimulates and promotes both basic and applied research and strives to have science and technology contribute to the optimisation of world water management and industrial processes.

Through its members, IAHR accomplishes its goals by a wide variety of activities, offering a common infrastructure for the hydraulic research community.
These include:

  • congresses
  • special conferences
  • workshops
  • short courses
  • Journal of Hydraulic Research
  • monographs
  • proceedings
  • participation in international programmes of UNESCO, WMO, IDNDR and UNIDO
  • co-operation with other water related organisations
  • Membership application forms should be sent to IAHS headquarters in Madrid (International website)
