The objectives of the Wind Engineering Society are to promote co-operation in the advancement of knowledge and the beneficial application of that knowledge in all aspects of wind engineering. It aims to attract researchers and those engaged in design and operation of structures, vehicles or crops subject to wind forces; or concerned with pollution dispersion and other environmental effects influenced by the wind; or concerned with other problems such as ventilation where the same knowledge is strongly relevant.
The Society is the UK national delegate to the International and European Association for Wind Engineering. The International Association exists primarily to promote the pre-eminent four-yearly International Conference on Wind Engineering (initiated in London in 1963) but also as the point of contact with international agencies.
The activities of the Society include:
- Quarterly Newsletter
- Biennial Conference
- Biennial Scruton Lecture
- Quarterly Technical Meetings (held at 5.30 pm)
Those interesting in joining the Society should contact Adam Kirkup, email: adam.kirkup@ice.org.uk, Tel: 020 7665 2262 for an application form.
