The ICE, as a learned society engaged in knowledge transfer and the lifelong education of engineers, is ideally placed to encourage innovation through industry relationships and the integration of project experience into business processes, to limit losses of tacit knowledge between projects, and to act as a knowledge broker for civil engineers. ICE has set up a Research and Innovation Panel to coordinate its activity in this area and is currently developing an action plan.
