Renew / Become a member

ICE members can be found all around the globe. You can find out what is going on in your local area through the regional teams in the UK or country representatives outside the UK.

Each local representative communicates in a way that best suits their audience. You can find links to ICE representatives in your area on the website.

Regional teams

ICE has 12 regional teams in the UK and one in Hong Kong. They provide assistance in becoming qualified, organise activities, supply regular information to ICE members, and work to raise the profile of ICE and civil engineering at a regional level.

International support

Internationally we have a network of over 90 voluntary country representatives, as well as several local groups providing a range of support and activities for our non-UK-based members.

Working with other organisations

ICE works closely with other professional engineering institutions and built environment bodies around the world to provide services to members locally. We work in partnership rather than competition, and have signed over 30 agreements of cooperation allowing ICE members to use the facilities of other organisations. If you are moving to a new country, this is a great way to get involved with the local organisations before becoming a member.

Becoming a member of a non-UK engineering institution

If you would like to join an engineering institution outside the UK, you may find our mutual exemption agreements (MEAs) useful. These reciprocal agreements allow you to become a member of some other engineering institutions as well as giving others the opportunity to join ICE, bypassing the full review process.

MEAs recognise equally high standards of professional development and professional review, allowing you to register with the relevant qualifying body (except in the US).
