Students, graduates and education

Renew / Become a member

Encouraging young people to go into civil engineering and making sure they are fully aware of the attractive career opportunities is an important part of ICE’s work.

We visit schools, colleges and universities across the country to talk to students and teachers. We are there to offer support and advice throughout university and after graduation, helping recent graduates as they build a career in civil engineering.

Applying for student and graduate membership online

It's easy to apply for student and graduate membership via the ICE website. All you have to do is complete the simple online form. Students can also update their details and upgrade their membership online after graduation. From 1 January 2008, any student member applying for graduate membership online by 30 October in the same calendar year as their graduation is entitled to free membership for the rest of the year.

If your company runs an online-enabled training scheme, and you have been approved to join the scheme, the online graduate application process also allows you to register for your training agreement at the same time.

Joining a graduates and students committee

Graduate and student members can get involved with their regional graduates and students committee. This allows you to meet fellow students and colleagues. It is also a good forum for developing your professional skills, such as negotiating, presenting and time management.

Graduates and students are represented by the Graduates and Students Network (GSNet). GSNet is represented on the ICE Council and many member committees across ICE, so if you get involved you really can make a difference.
