Am I eligible to apply for an ICE QUEST Continuing Education Award? You may apply for this award if you have had at least two years’ industrial experience and have been a member of ICE for at least two years.
This award is designed to encourage those who would not otherwise be able to participate in their chosen course. However, this award is not designed to fund courses that will be used as Further Learning for membership of the ICE. For an explanation of Further Learning click here.
Continuing Education Awards are made to members seeking to return to full or part-time education in management or technical subjects. Support is limited to 12 months for a full-time course and can include short training courses. PhD fees will not be funded.
An applicant can only have a total of three ICE QUEST awards of any type, with a lapse of at least a year between each.
When is the deadline?
Dates for the 2009 awards will be announced shortly.
How do I apply? Download the application form for an ICE QUEST Continuing Education Award.
Completed application forms should be sent to the QUEST Executive at:
Institution of Civil Engineers One Great George Street London SW1P 3AA
Fax: 020 7233 0515 quest.awards@ice.org.uk
How will the successful applicants be chosen? Applications will be judged on the following criteria: academic merit, likely future relevance, benefit of proposed activity and financial situation.
Applicants must identify the benefit to ICE in their application form.
Applications will be considered by the ICE QUEST Committee. Their decision will be final and feedback to individuals who are unsuccessful will not be given.
How much is the award worth? The maximum award is currently £1,500. In certain cases, money will be paid directly to the organisation rather than the individual.
What are the conditions of receiving an award? As part of the QUEST award, all recipients are required to download and complete a report form at the end of the course to help the QUEST Committee to keep a record of their achievements and progress.
On occasion scholars who have submitted outstanding reports or who have displayed excellence in their chosen course may be invited to ICE to speak to other prospective QUEST scholars. Details of reports may be used by ICE to promote the QUEST scheme so that other students and scholars may benefit from your experience.
