Hello all,
The ICE WALA has made a great start to 2011 this last quarter, with some great events and increased attendances from the members.
We kicked off the year with our first social meeting at Rigby’s in Perth’s CBD. We held our first technical evening meeting in February, with a presentation on adjudication, given by Mr. John Fisher of JP Fisher Consulting. This meeting was well supported with around forty people in attendance and John’s presentation provoked a lot of interest and questions from the audience, which made the meeting more interactive.
Our calendar of future events is attached for your information and as you can see, we have some great events on the horizon. We have the March social meeting but this will be closely followed by technical meetings on the Fiona Stanley Hospital project and a presentation on structural safety given by John Carpenter. This event will be co-sponsored with the Institution of Structural Engineers.
We have seven new committee members: Anil Jethwa, Chris Robson, Mike McWilliams, Steve Jones, Paula Sothern, Ivan Lim and Nathan Narendranathan. We welcome them on board and look forward to their input and participation going forward.
In addition to social and technical meetings, we continue to develop our Competition for Innovation in WA schools this year. A proposal has been developed and we plan to present this to the Education Department WA very soon.
We’re looking forward to the rest of 2011 with some great events, along with continued and increased support from our WA members.
