Policy

ICE provides expert advice to policy makers on a wide range of issues across engineering and the built environment.

Our rolling programme of policy development and analysis is produced with leading experts in their fields and overseen by a Policy Panel, chaired by Professor Tim Broyd, Group Technology & Innovation Director, Halcrow.
All of our reports, policy position statements and submissions to government and parliament are freely available to download.  Our forward programme of policy work is also available here.

State of the Nation
The State of the Nation report has been compiled each year since 2000 by a panel of experts drawn from the various fields of expertise across ICE's membership. Its aim is to stimulate debate and to highlight the actions that we believe are needed to improve the state of the nation´s infrastructure.

Reports
ICE regularly issues reports and other material providing detailed analysis of policy issues affecting civil engineering and the built environment, and setting out our recommendations to decision makers.

Policy statements
Policy position statements capture ICE's up-to-date position on public policy issues affecting civil engineering and the built environment. Position statements are regularly updated to keep pace with events, and are also used to produce briefings for parliamentarians and other stakeholders, documents which can also be found in this section.

Responses to government and parliament
ICE responds on behalf of its members to government consultations and parliamentary select committee inquiries on issues affecting civil engineering and the built environment.  Please note that submissions to select committees will not be available immediately as we are unable to publish in advance of the committee issuing its final report.
