Arup’s work on the refurbishment and replant of the Bankside electricity substation has enabled one of London’s largest substations to be more efficient, reduce its carbon emissions and provided zero-carbon heating to the Tate Modern gallery’s new extension.

In December 2011 the Hammersmith Flyover was closed due to structural defects. Corrosion of the steel tendons inside the structure was worse than previously thought, with strands and entire cables having disintegrated. Amey's team successfully undertook in 23 weeks what would have normally taken between 18 and 24 months

The refurbishment of the main train shed roof at King’s Cross Station was successfully completed to renovate the Grade I listed building, whilst providing a sustainable energy source through the use of one of the most complex photo-voltaic schemes in the UK.

The new landmark China Central Television (CCTV) headquarters in Beijing, Arup achieved what many people thought would be impossible: engineering a design for a building comprising two leaning towers; 234 metres and 194 metres tall; linked by a 15-storey cantilevered ‘overhang’ with a 10-storey podium.

1. Voting is open until 5pm Friday 1 March 2013. There are five sets of two tickets to attend the ICE London Civil Engineering Awards Reception, to be held on the evening of the 14 March, 2013, to give away.

3.The winners will be selected at random after the closing date and winners will be contacted by Tuesday 5 March 2013. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. Judges decision is final.
