Become an ambassador

Becoming an ambassador for ICE will give you the opportunity to promote civil engineering within schools and colleges.  You will work with young learners and students to foster and encourage their enthusiasm for the discipline.

Working with young people can be an incredibly rewarding experience personally and can count towards your CPD.  You will also become part of the national government-funded Science & Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) scheme.

Interested?  Next steps:

Register online with STEMNET (the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Network).  They foster links between schools and industry and run a scheme to:

  • register all volunteers
  • provide volunteers with an introduction to working as an Ambassador
  • process the CRB checks
  • provide insurance to cover ambassadors when working within the schools
  • STEMNET issues a list of activities each month or you can register your own activity with them.
  • Keep Susan Clements, Membership Development Officer updated of the work that you do in the region.  Contact her for further information.
