ICE North East operates through its Regional Committee made up of members of the branches, interest groups and sections and assisted by the Regional Support Team (RST).
The region is composed of Northumbria and Teesside Branches, Graduates & Students Section, Special Interest Panels, Seniors Group and the Northern Geotechnical Group.
Committee members are volunteers and come from a range of backgrounds within the civil engineering profession. If you would like to volunteer on a committee please contact the chair person of that committee, branch or special interest group.

John has spent his career working in both the consulting and contracting arms of the profession on a wide variety of schemes and latterly had a specific interest in the Quality, Environment and Health & Safety aspect of our work. John has been involved in Institution affairs since joining as a student member some 40 years ago. His involvement has been at both local and national levels including serving as a Member of Council as well as Chairman of the Health & Safety Panel and other committees. He has a particular interest in the development of the younger members through Education and Training and he has served as an ICE Professional Reviewer for over 20 years. John would like to see the NE region develop and promote the delivery of the Business Plan to all our members, building on the foundations laid down in the past few years whilst at the same time promoting the expertise we have in the region through the various specialist Groups and Boards. In the coming months there will be an increasing need to work with other bodies for the benefit of all and John would like to encourage participation by the membership in the region as a high priority on the agenda.
