One of a series of frequently asked questions from North West ICE members on Professional Review.
I intend entering for my Professional Review next year. What advice would you give to ensure that I have the best chance of success?
There are three critical stages in your preparation for Professional Review.
- Make sure you thoroughly understand the review criteria that you will be required to meet for your target grade of membership. These attributes are in Appendix A of the documents ICE 3001A/ 3002A/ 3003A.
- Be sure that you really have comprehensively acquired all the necessary attributes, knowledge and skills relating to the fields of technology, finance, commerce, health and safety, the environment, communications, leadership etc. Regularly discuss your progress towards satisfying all of the Review Criteria with your SCE or Mentor and your colleagues.
- Having satisfied yourself and your SCE/mentor that you meet the criteria, you must now convince your Reviewers by demonstrating your knowledge, skills and aptitudes through your written submissions and your performance during the Review. Your Reviewers must be convinced about your own capabilities, not about those of your employer. Make sure that your writing, presentation and interview skills are developed, practised and polished, well before your Professional Review.
