ICE NI Commerce & Contracts Special Interest Group

ICE aims to facilitate the smooth running of construction projects through setting standards and promoting best practice in conditions of contract, procurement, the avoidance and resolution of disputes, and disseminating guidance on legal and procedural issues to industry.

The ICE NI Commerce & Contracts Special Interest Group aims to promote a better understanding of contract conditions, the legal framework within which they operate and the management procedures necessary for the successful delivery of projects by:

  • capturing knowledge and best practice from within the local and wider construction industry;
  • educating all levels of the membership in commercial and project management;
  • promoting the role of civil engineers in all aspects of contract procurement, management and dispute resolution;
  • providing leadership on best practice procurement, contract management and dispute resolution

ICE Law & Contract Examinations

ICE runs three law and contract examinations: the Law and Contract Management Examination, the Arbitrators Endorsement Examination, and the Adjudicator’s Qualifying Examination. 

Over the next 12 months the Commerce & Contract Specialist Interest Group aim to ensure that a training course to prepare engineers to sit the ICE Law and Contract exams will be available in Northern Ireland.
