The main initiatives promoted by Dundee Area Branch are the Rapid Response Challenge and Engineering For Life.
Rapid Response Engineering Challenge
RREC promotes civil engineering to first year secondary school pupils using a disaster in Honduras to demonstrate how natural disasters can disrupt lives and require engineers to help rebuild the necessary infrastructure. The Challenge is in three parts: an initial Motivational Talk, a Training Period and an Activities Day.
Initially developed in Dundee Area Branch between ICE, Construction Skills and Carnoustie High School, the RREC intiative has now rolled out across Scotland.

Engineering For Life
Hosted by DAB in conjunction with Techfest Setpoint, Careers Scotland and multiple Local Education Authorities, the annual 2-day Engineering for Life (E4L) festival aims to inspire S3 pupils to consider careers in Science, Engineering and Technology.
The 2009 event brought over 300 pupils from 15 local schools to the Bonar Hall in Dundee, where over 30 engineers offered a range of practical sessions including water filtration, bridge-building from paper and card, the Lego tower challenge and the ICE Scotland WestPoint Bridge Design Competition.
