Fellows in ICE Scotland

The grade of Fellow is the highest and most senior grade of ICE Membership and is reserved for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering. In addition to being able to use the post nominal letters FICE, Fellows make a valued contribution to national debates by shaping ICE policy, via expert panels, events and online discussions. Our Fellows are also given exclusive access to the current ICE President, during the Presidential visit in November.

Is Fellowship for me?

Fellows are engaged in a position of responsibility in the promotion, planning, design, construction, maintenance or management of important engineering work. This may involve responsibility for a significant portfolio of projects, acknowledged expertise in a technical subject area or delivery of engineering education and training.

What is required?

If you are Member (MICE or TMICE), have a position of responsibility, and can show significant achievement in at least one of the 14 attributes, you can apply to transfer membership class.  Non Members who can show significant achievement in at least one of the 14 attributes can also apply.  Seven of the attributes relate to managerial/organisational achievement, four to technical achievement and three to achievement through contribution to the Institution or society.  Interview is not normally required for existing Members.

How do I apply?

You don't need to wait to be invited but it is a good idea to ask the Fellowship Panel to informally review your CV before applying online by sending it to fellowship@ice.org.uk.
