SGG Poster Competition

Each year the ICE Scottish Geotechnical Group and the Central Scotland Regional Group of the Geological Society jointly host a Poster and Presentation Competition.  Entries are invited from geotechnical engineers, geologists and related construction professionals, including research students on any topic where geotechnical or geological skills have been used.  Examples could include site investigation, design, construction, monitoring, case study back analysis or research.

The event is held annually in December at the Lord Todd Building at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.  See the meetings link for further information on timing and location.

The winner receives a prize, which includes an engraved trophy and a valuable addition to their CV, the result is also published in selected national publications e.g. Ground Engineering and Geoscientist).  All entrants also receive a prize.  Entry and preparation for the event qualifies as CPD.

The competition consists of two parts; display of the poster with informal questions from the judging panel, followed by a 10 minute presentation of the poster and a 5 minute question and answer session.  The number of entries is typically limited to 12, and depending on the number of entries received, the judges will select the final 6 entries to progress to the presentation part of the event.
