ICE South East England runs a number of competitions for our graduate and student members.
Papers Competition
The Graduate and Student Papers Competition (GSPC) encourages graduate and student members of ICE to submit a paper on any civil engineering related topic. The paper is then presented at a special evening meeting.
It is a chance to showcase a talent for communicating civil engineering ideas and research and increase confidence in public speaking. It is also an excellent opportunity for G&S members to improve their written and verbal skills in readiness for professional review and promote their employer or university.
Heats are held in each of the three branch areas in the November to February period.

Communications Competition
The entry deadline for the 2012 competition has now passed. Why not support the teams by attending the presentation evening and being one of the 'angry residents' questioning the new proposals!
28th March - Southampton
The ICE Communications Competition is a great opportunity to gain experience in this area, or to showcase existing skills. Teams are provided with fictional scenarios and then asked to produce an information leaflet and consultation strategy, and to present their solutions at a 'public meeting'. ICE members and other engineering professionals play the part of local residents and members of the public, trying to give the presenting teams a taste of what a real meeting can feel like (and having a fair amount of fun while they are at it!).
