ICE South East England has established expert panels focussing specifically on infrastructure issues in South East England relating to aviation, transport and water.
These are separate to the ICE’s 15 National Expert Panels, although they work in collaboration when required.
The technical knowledge of ICE's National Expert Panels forms the backbone of the Institution’s status as a learned society. The Panels act as a focus for the various areas of civil engineering, enabling ICE to respond to consultations and bills, produce papers and guidance on best practice, influence government policy and hold conferences and debates.
Regional Role

Appointed by the ICE South East England Regional Committee, the ICE South East England expert panels develop and communicate ICE’s messages to key stakeholders in South East England, acting as a focus in the region in the same way the national panels operate nationally.
These stakeholders include local government, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and MPs whose constituencies are in the region, industry and the public as well as responding to consultations and speaking to the media to ensure technical knowledge is available to those making decisions on the future of South East England’s infrastructure networks.
