The object of the Maritime Group is to promote knowledge and understanding of maritime engineering, including the construction of ports, harbours and breakwaters, coastal protection and reclamation, dredging, inland waterways and other relevant subjects.
Each year the group arranges meetings and site visits of interest to those involved in maritime engineering, at which papers are presented or debates conducted. The group also arranges visits to relevant works where appropriate and maintains links with the Maritime Board.
The Maritime Group is also responsible for organising the popular biennial Working in the Wet conference.
