The object of the ICE Yorkshire and Humber Awards is to give public recognition to outstanding examples of the art of civil engineering.
Awards are made for civil engineering projects with a regional dimension in recognition of achievement, excellence or innovation in civil engineering. Nominated projects will normally be expected to have been completed or substantially completed not more than two years before the closing date for nominations.
Factors to be taken into account will include fitness for purpose, sustainability, health safety and welfare, quality of design and workmanship, innovation, engineering difficulty and the effect on the community and society in general.
Centenary Award
The best project of excellence in concept, design and execution, and constructed within the region, will be presented with the Centenary Trophy.
Smeaton Award
The best project of excellence not constructed in the region, but for which there has been a substantial input from civil engineers in the region, will be presented with the Smeaton Trophy. The project could be a construction project outside the region or a project that does not lead to construction.
The 2013 Awards are now closed for submission. The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner Dance and Awards ceremony on Friday 15 March 2013 at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
