Retired Members' Section

If you have recently retired or are nearly retired and would like to meet with former colleagues and fellow engineers, you will be very welcome to attend the daytime events organised by the RICE group.

Background

Following announcements in the September 2001 edition of “Yorkshire & Humber Briefing” the inaugural meeting of the Group was held on 20th March, 2002, at The Royal Oak, Wetherby, when 19 members were able to attend. The first Chairman was Keith Tattersall supported by Richard Watson as Secretary and Treasurer.

It was decided to hold further meetings on a quarterly basis with an initial view to invite speakers to a morning meeting followed by lunch or to visit engineering works, either completed or under construction. A formal constitution was agreed which provides for the usual committee appointees.

Membership

Since those early days, 100 retired ICE members are now registered with the group and we regularly meet mid-morning followed by lunch.

Prior to each meeting of the group the Secretary mails all registered members with more details about the topic and the speaker. In future such information will also be displayed on the Events sections of this website.
