If you wish to become a professional civil engineer in the UK, you will need both theoretical knowledge and evidence of your competence gained through experience. For most people, gaining the theoretical knowledge through a suitable academic qualification is the first step (although this can be done at the same time as, or even after, acquiring some experience).
We recommend prospective students to follow an academic course that is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM). Such courses are available in the Yorkshire and Humber region and may be found using the following links.
Other courses, some of them not accredited by JBM, are listed and these will be useful for some people, depending on their particular circumstances. If in doubt, please check with JBM or ICE before committing to a course.
