Based on the highly successful IoD Diploma, the IoD/ICE Diploma in Company Direction is a qualification for strategic leaders within civil engineering consultants, contractors, clients and the associated businesses that comprise the civil engineering and construction industries.
The Diploma programme is split into two parts and is based on a blended learning principle – a combination of modules including short courses and e-learning, making it the most time-efficient way to keep you up-to-date with your responsibilities and liabilities as a director.

Part one consists of 12 days of training which are typically undertaken over a period of five months and include two days post-course compulsory e-learning*
Sit the certificate examination
Part two
- Developing board performance
Part two consists of three days of training, which brings together all prior learning in a simulation based scenario that develops over the duration of the course.
Sit the diploma examination On successful completion of the examination, receive the Diploma in Company Direction. The Diploma in Company Direction satisfies one of the criteria in achieving Chartered Director.
Chartered Director**
Successful completion of a professional review results in the award of Chartered Director.
*e-learning is a mandatory element of certain modules and must be completed before the first examination is attempted
**Passing the Diploma examination proves you have the requisite knowledge to apply for Chartered Director. To become Chartered, a professional review with the IoD will be required. For full details visit The IoD website.
