Briefing on Europe
Legislation and other initiatives originating from the European Union affect the UK in all policy areas and is a key sector of government for ICE. Through the International Division (link to International Section), ICE monitors developments in Brussels and ensures that Government Departments and elected representatives are aware of members' concerns on technical issues and policy matters affecting the civil engineering profession. The International Division also informs members on relevant EU legislation and on funding possibilities in Europe.
ICE is a member of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE), which presents a pan-European civil engineering viewpoint to the institutions of the European Union. ECCE maintains regular contact with senior European Commission officials and Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to ensure that decision makers are advised and informed on concerns relating to Europe's built and natural environment.
