The North West Education Volunteer of the Year honours an individual who has shown outstanding commitment to civil engineering by giving his or her time to represent ICE and/or the profession at school or university events. Civil engineers working with children and young people through education events are a key way to introduce them to civil engineering and influence their choice of civil engineering as a profession.
The North West Mentor of the Year award honours an individual who has shown outstanding commitment to mentoring members of the Institution.
The civil engineering profession has a strong tradition of members supporting colleagues in their professional development. This award demonstrates the important role played by mentors, publicises good practice to employers and aims to encourage members to volunteer as mentors to support colleagues.
