Further Learning can be achieved by completing an additional accredited academic qualification, such as an MSc to meet the educational base requirements for a Chartered Engineer (CEng), or an accredited BSc to meet the educational base requirements for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
How can Academic Further Learning be used?
Academic Further Learning can be used to enhance a:
- BEng (Hons) degree towards registration at Chartered Engineer level
- BSc (Hons) towards registration at Incorporated Engineer level
- HND/Foundation Degree towards registration at Incorporated Engineer level
How can I find an accredited MSc programme?

The JBM list displays MScs which have been designated ‘Technical.’
If you hold an IEng level or unaccredited undergraduate qualification, you will need to take an accredited technical MSc in order to fulfil the CEng educational base (although this will still need to be checked by our Academic Qualifications Panel as it is not an automatically recognised route).
