British Geotechnical Association

The British Geotechnical Association is one of the most active societies within civil engineering, acting as a learned society and professional body.

We work to champion technical and professional issues and support young geotechnical engineers.  Our activities also include the organisation of a number of events, prizes and the current initiative of the Register of Ground Engineering professionals.  Events we organise include:

  • The Rankine Lecture
  • Monthly technical discussion meetings
  • The Touring Lecture
  • The Cooling Prize, for young geotechnical engineers
  • The BGA Annual Conference, a free one-day conference for BGA members
