International development policy and practice panel

The International Development Policy and Practice Panel (IDPPP) was established in June 2011, with the principal aim to develop and promote the role of civil engineering in order to maximise the Institution’s contribution to the sector.

This includes establishing and maintaining ICE’s reputation as the credible source of policy advice on matters relating to infrastructure delivery and engineering for development.

The principal objectives of the IDPPP are to:

  • Identify strategic goals and priorities for ICE International Development activity, and to create the framework for its delivery;
  • Developing ICE policy on relevant issues and engaging in relevant debates at a framework and policy level;
  • Build ICE’s proactive and reactive capacity to influence policy makers at the local, regional, national, EU and international level;
  • Establish ICE as a centre for expert knowledge in appropriate development solutions for poverty alleviation;
  • Work in partnership with professional bodies and NGOs towards the alleviation of poverty;
  • Promote debate and communicating the key issues surrounding engineering and infrastructure for development;
  • Undertaking individual project work, as deemed appropriate.
  • To oversee a two-way communications strategy for ICE international development activity.
