Venues and infrastructure
- There are two FREE London 2012 themed issues of ICE’s Civil Engineering journal. Written by ODA directors and contractors, these special editions explore a range of topics including geotechnics, energy provision, structural engineering, master planning and transport
1) Planning and people
2) Infrastructure and venues
Numerous other ODA papers and articles have appeared in Civil Engineering and other ICE Proceedings journals about the games, including:
A further suite of ODA papers on transport will be published in the November 2012 issue of the ICE Transport journal, and will be available online ahead of print.
All ODA papers published in ICE Proceedings journals are FREE to download.
- The Institution of Structural Engineers published a special issue of its journal on the structures for London 2012
- NCE pulled together its coverage of the works in a dedicated section of its website*
- Building magazine* has also summarised its coverage of the works
*ICE members need to register in order to access electronic articles in NCE and articles in Building require a separate subscription
Budget and procurement
The budget for the Games and progress on the works were kept under review by the National Audit Office and two committees of the House of Commons: Public Accounts and Culture, and Media and Sport. Their reports can be found on the NAO website.
ODA procured most venues and infrastructure under ICE’s suite of NEC3 contracts. ODA’s procurement team explain how all NEC3 contracts were completed on time and within budget in a free special issue of the NEC users’ group newsletter.
