Cross-boundary engineering service delivery

The effective delivery of engineering and environmental service delivery in the municipality plays an important part in both urban and rural communities.

In December 2007, the Communities and Local Government (CLG) published the “National Improvement and Efficiency Strategy”.

This strategy tasked Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs) to support councils and their partners to work in partnership, to maximise efficiency gains and improvement.

In this section of the ICE website, we would like to highlight examples of engineering and environmental service delivery that has involved different local authorities working together or promoting working by others across boundaries.

These case studies are intended to highlight the factors in decisions to deliver cross boundary engineering and environmental services; the framework established to ensure services meet the needs of different communities, and; the real efficiencies realised in doing so.
