Qualityreviewer: appraising the design quality of development proposals
Each development has the potential to help make a place that is more attractive, more pleasant to live in, more economically successful and a better use of resources. The role of planners, councillors and others in assessing design is one of the few means of making sure that those opportunities aren't lost. This publication offers a method of design appraisal that can be used for all types of development.

Manual for streets
This guide puts well-designed residential streets at the heart of sustainable communities. The manual gives clear guidance on how to achieve well-designed streets and spaces that serve the community. It demonstrates the benefits that flow from good design and places a higher priority on pedestrians and cyclists. It stresses the need for a fundamental culture change in the way streets are designed and encourages new ways of thinking in relation to creating successful neighbourhoods.

Pedestrian facilities: engineering and geometric design
This is the first text to deal exclusively with the engineering and numerical design aspects of pedestrian facilities, such as footways, uncontrolled and controlled crossings along roads and at junctions, roundabouts and driveways where pedestrian and vehicles interact. The focus is on the dimensional aspects of pedestrian facilities needed to provide safe mobility to encourage increased walking, and the design of individual elements of a pedestrian's route. It draws together a wide range of material and provides design information to assist urban planners, architects and those involved with facilities within the public realm.
