Our vision is for the civil engineering industry and profession to play its full role in the creation and maintenance of sustainable communities in harmony with their natural environment.
Underpinning this vision are four strategic aims which will guide our approach to pursuing sustainable development in civil engineering:

Civil engineering already contributes - but must contribute much more - to sustainable development along the entire chain of modern production and consumption, including:
- extracting and developing natural resources
- processing and modifying resources
- designing and building infrastructure
- meeting the needs of consumers
- recovering and reusing resources
- producing and distributing energy
