Creating the right policy and regulatory framework to support and reward sustainable development requires a variety of actions at all levels.
The strategy partners aimed to work collaboratively to identify these and promote consistency in policy making.

Influence Government
The ICE State of the Nation reports have made a series of recommendations to Government to address concerns including co-ordinating policy across Government departments and facilitating a common methodology for life-cycle carbon accounting.
Following the original strategy launch in 2007 the ICE led a workshop on Sustainable construction tools, this was funded by Defra and fed directly into the 2008 Strategy for Sustainable Construction.
