The British Geotechnical Association is the body that performs the role of ICE's ground engineering expert panel, following the merger of the ICE Ground Board with the British Geotechnical Society in 2000.
The BGA meets regularly to advance best practice, research, training and knowledge sharing in soil mechanics, rock mechanics and engineering geology and in their application to engineering.
The BGA is a member of Ground Forum and is the UK representative of the international societies International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) and International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
