Publications and proceedings
There are many hazards associated with working in the construction industry, but there is no reason why the existence of any of these hazards should cause workers to be harmed. Below is a sample of ICE publications relating to health and safety.

ICE manual of health and safety in construction
The manual provides invaluable practical guidance on how hazards can be removed, controlled or managed - from the initial design and planning stages, through construction, to asset maintenance and eventual demolition - to help maintain the safety and health of workers and others involved in or affected by construction projects. This manual gives practical, internationally relevant advice and is the essential reference for clients, project managers, designers, contractors and sub-contractors.

Health and safety law for the construction industry (2nd edition)
This edition highlights the main health and safety duties and provides extensive bibliographies that identify any related legislation and approved codes of practice and guidance. The book also reflects the increasing tendency for construction fatalities to be investigated by the police (with a view to bringing manslaughter charges) and the usefulness of comprehensive management plans in place to deal with such crisis.
