Health & safety - related groups

The Health and Safety Panel has representatives on a number of external groups in order to stay up to date with current health and safety best practice.

Structural-Safety -  combines the activities of SCOSS and CROSS to work with the professions, industry and government on safety matters concerned with the design, construction and use of building and civil engineering structures. It:

  • collects confidential data on the concerns of structural and civil engineers and others
  • provides comments in relation to these concerns
  • maintains a data base of reports and publications
  • collects data from public sources on failures, collapses and relevant incidents
  • considers whether unacceptable risk exists, or might arise in the future
  • promotes a positive attitude to learning from experience
  • helps to influence changes to improve structural safety.

HSE - Health and Safety Executive

HSE's job is to protect people against risks to health or safety arising out of work activities.

CONIAC - Construction Industry Advisory Committee

The Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) advises the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) on the protection of people at work (and others) from hazards to health and safety within the building, civil engineering and engineering construction industry.

ConstructionSkills

ConstructionSkills is a partnership between CITB-ConstructionSkills, the Construction Industry Council and CITB Northern Ireland that covers the whole industry, the whole of the UK, and all of the issues that the industry faces.

CIC - Construction Industry Council

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry. It provides a single voice for professionals in all sectors of the built environment through it collective membership of 500,000 individual professionals and 25,000 firms of construction consultants.

TWf   - Temporary Works Forum

The Temporary Works Forum aims to encourage open discussion of any matter related to Temporary Works. The group is open to anyone, individual or corporate working within the industry and sharing this intent.
