The Information Systems Panel offers an interesting and thought provoking presentation on the evolution of information systems, computing, and ICT within the construction industry.
Though the presentation was formerly titled 'Brunel to Broadband', the story actually begins before Brunel. The 'history' section asks whether construction design has been enhanced by the use of computers and software. Some may argue that Brunel's masterpieces are far more attractive than modern structures. Yet technology has sped up the process and made construction more economical.
The panel is very active in providing this presentation to regions, graduates, and students around the UK. If you are interested in booking a talk for your region or group, contact richard.armstrong@ice.org.uk (t: +44 (0) 20 7665 2411) to discuss your requirements.
Neil Pawsey and Richard Lee from the panel are currently looking in to updating and re-recording the presentation to incorporate web 2.0 technology and the ever-expanding social networking and media facets.
