Offshore renewables
With ambitious renewable energy targtets to fulfil and the insecurity of energy supplies constantly looming in the background, offshore renewables could be a hugely important source of energy for the UK. Wind, wave and tidal sources of power could help to generate the 35GW of electricity that it is predicted the UK will need to replaced by 2025.
In March 2010, the ICE Energy and Maritime Panels, alongside the ICE Policy Team, produced a report titled Offshore renewables: Unlocking the potential which looked into the barriers that exist in delivering the infrastrcuture required for this industry and how the supply chain can be created and maintained to support the offshore renewable industry.
