The ICE's Transport Panel is committed to facilitating best practice in the delivery of transport infrastructure policy and solutions worldwide.
The remit of the Transport Panel includes modes such as rail, road, local transport systems, maritime, and air.
In 2012, the Panel will be considering a number of high profile transport engineering issues and how this will impact upon transport engineering. These issues include:
- The National Aviation Strategy, including the possibility of an airport hub in the Thames Estuary;
- Phase Two of the High Speed 2 rail line, considering the route beyond the West Midlands to the East Midlands, Manchester, Leeds, the North-East and Scotland;
- Residential Development and the need for Sustainable Transport Systems;
- LEV Recharging Infrastructure delivery;
- Climate change adaptation;
- The interdependent nature of transport on other engineering sectors;
- The Strategic Transport network and promoting the need for a National Transport Strategy incorporating rail, roads and air.
The Panel meets quarterly, and its members consist of representatives of ICE who monitor the delivery of the annual action plan and develop future programmes.
Its members work to define and deliver desired outputs and outcomes against the five ICE knowledge streams –Research & Innovation; Best Practice; Capacity Building; and Networking and Events.
