Global water security
Water is a delicate natural resource, which is currently under threat from overuse and severe stress. In the last few years there has therefore been a large amount of attention given to climate change. Though the issue has received increased scrutiny, the threat to global water supply is very real, and the effect of climate change on water must be addressed by policy makers the world over.
In November 2009, in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Chartered Institution of Water and Envrionmental Management, ICE began the process of researching and compiling evidence for a report on global water security. This research took the form of gathering both written and verbal evidence, as well as a detailed literature review.
The result was a thorough report which launched on 19 April 2010. The report, Global Water Security - an engineering perspective, successfully raised the profile of the issue of water security by gaining significant headlines in both the visual and print media.
