Survey equipment for Rwanda
Rwanda is a country coming to terms with a violent past and it is striving to rebuild its economy . It ranks 152nd in the UNDP Human Development Index with 76.56% of people living below the specified poverty line of US$1.25 per day.
We would like to appeal for any old survey equipment – site levels, theodolites and other equipment – which will be passed to technical colleges to train people to rebuild Rwanda at the grassroots level. Rob Hoy, a member of ICE from the UK, is coordinating the effort in conjunction with the Rwandan Government and will travel out in August to progress this and also rainwater harvesting projects. ICE, CIWEM, CICES, The Survey Association and many others are helping to gather equipment.
If you can find any old but sound equipment that might be helpful to this work, please contact hoys@janhoy.mail1.co.uk
