Green Week Presentation in Brussels May 25, 2011
Is an EU organised conference held in Brussels, under the “Resources efficiency, using less & living better” theme. The conference was held under the patronage of the European Commissioner for the Environment. The conference was chaired by the EU DG of the Environment.
The EU commissioner on Climate Change has been actively involved throughout the conference. The motive is to use our resources more efficiently and to aim at zero wastes. Clean and green energy and efficient water use in domestic, industry and agriculture sectors were given great attention.
I had been invited on behalf of ICID to give a talk about how the water can be used more efficiently in the agriculture sector where 70% of the global fresh water is used, often at low efficiency level. The topic of the session was “Every drop counts - tools and tips for better water management”. The presentation was well received and was followed by lively debate, a press brief and a Q&A with the Media in the Press Room. The conference had over 38 sessions, side events and around 2000 participants. Several scientific research, industry and business organizations were present including EU organizations such as The European Environment Agency.
