Maritime Expert Panel

The Maritime Panel provides technical knowledge in key areas such as coastal erosion, flooding, offshore energy, ports and inland navigation.

The Maritime Expert Panel supports our key learned society objectives of policy consultation, knowledge provision and thought leadership. The panel works with our staff to deliver outputs focusing on key areas in the sector including coastal engineering and management, dredging, flood risk management, offshore engineering, ports, harbours, and docks.

    Maritime Expert Panel

    Gregor is a Technical Director with Royal Haskoning. He has a practical background in coastal engineering, and is heavily involved in the broader aspects of managing the maritime and coastal environment.

The panel supports ICE's learned society activity in the following ways:

  • Informing our policy work, including our State of the Nation reports and consultation responses
  • Creating our knowledge material, including case studies, briefing sheets, recorded lectures and blog articles
  • Supporting our thought leadership programme, identifying industry trends and challenges

The panel is currently working on a number of projects including:

  • Ecological engineering for practitioners
  • The implications and applications of the UK's forthcoming new climate change projections (CP18)
  • Inputs to the Environment Agency's new Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management strategy
  • Briefing note on hydrogen as a fuel source
