The Structures Expert Panel aims to develop and promote best practice in construction. It also works to influence governmental, legislative and industrial policy.
Meeting four times a year, the panel members monitor the delivery of an annual action plan and develop future programmes.
The Structures panel is made up of a variety of industry experts. Find out more about our panel chair and details of the panel's members.
Julie is a Director with the Building Research Establishment (BRE). She leads BRE’s engineering team, its strategic research and consultancy.
The panel is currently working on the confidential reporting of critical safety data. Recent outputs include an update on use of structural engineering codes, and how the Party Wall Act affects civil and structural engineers.
The Panel has supported the work of SCOSS and the Structural-safety website in its concerns over the standard of many building regulation submissions under Part A of the Building Regulations. Although written for English submissions, the principles apply to the UK generally. The guidance note sets out the essential components of an acceptable submission.
If you have a question for our Structures Expert Panel, are interested in adding your input to the panel, or require details on the panel's output, then let us know.
