ICE Africa supports members living and working in South Africa, Sudan and other regions in the area.
It shares knowledge, influences public infrastructure policy, and encourages innovation and excellence in the civil engineering profession.
ICE Africa also aims to raise the profile of civil engineering by working with the media, schools and universities.

At the heart of everything we do in South Africa is ICE-SA, the volunteer ICE local association (formerly known as the Joint Civils Division).
ICE-SA invites ICE members to meet regularly to exchange knowledge and ideas, visit interesting engineering sites and raise the profile of ICE and civil engineering within the area. The ICE-SA website is full of useful resources and information for civil engineers working in South Africa.
ICE also has an Agreement of Cooperation with the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (SAICE). This enables members of either organisation to attend meetings, conferences and use library facilities at members' rates.
There is a Mutual Exemption Agreement between ICE, Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) & South African Institution of Civil Engineers (SAICE), which provides a streamlined route to emmbership for Chartered Civil Engineers and PEng registrants /SAICE members.

We have a volunteer member in South Africa who helps arrange ICE activities and promote our work.
Alain Jacquet is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and is currently in his second term as a volunteer ICE Representative for South Africa, promoting professional registration support.
Alain has over 30 years experience in the civil engineering industry and for over 20 years he has specialised in construction procurement, developing and implementing procurement systems for various public sector and private sector clients. He is the Convenor of the ISO Working Group for Construction Procurement Standards and has been the procurement advisor for several prominent projects within South Africa and across Africa. His passion for socio-economic development has driven the registration of Construction Mentorship with the SA Council for Project and Construction Management Professions in South Africa.
Alain is Owner and Principal at SABEeX, a company which specialises in construction procurement.
